Looking Ahead in 2012
Music at Asbury
Mark your calendar for three upcoming
Music at Asbury events:
Saturday, February 25th will bring the Indiana University International Vocal Ensemble to Asbury. This is not the usual college choir. This group performs music from outside the Western music tradition. You will hear music from Africa, South America, and Eastern Europe. They have a lot of movement with their music and I know you will enjoy it.
On Saturday, March 24th, Dan and Kim Christian, accordion national champions, will entertain with a variety of music. They are from Colorado Springs and will be in Columbus for the weekend. This husband and wife team have played at Branson and Disney Land. If you want to hear "Flight of the Bumble Bee" and "Dizzy Fingers" be sure to be here.
Saturday, April 21st will bring one of Japan's top pianists, Kozo Kaneko to Asbury. You might ask how we are able to schedule this, well he has a good friend who lives in Columbus, and the connection was made through that friend. As a special treat, we discovered that a Japanese professional ocarina player lives in Columbus now, and she will perform with Kozo. The professional ocarina is a three octave instrument with two blow holes.
These three programs are an opportunity to hear music that you probably will never have the opportunity to hear anywhere else. Please help advertise our programs by telling your friends and neighbors about them.
